Kahuna Bodywork

“To change your body is to change your mind. To change your mind is to change your life.” Kahu Abraham Kawai`i

bluegreenKahuna bodywork is essentially a spiritual approach, connecting us with others and the universe. Kahuna bodywork is a rite of passage, a way to  understand yourself and change your life.

Massage is an aspect of it, but there is so much more to it. Kahuna bodywork focuses not just on a body part but the full body energy and learning how we function. It is also about posture, dignity, inhabiting your own space and not having intent. I would say that is more spiritual than massage, in that when you work with a client you in effect touch not just the body but their entire genetic lineage. This carries with it great responsibility.

Kahuna Bodywork (Lomi Ka’aleleau) is a flowing and dynamic form of massage-like therapy. Performed to music, Kahuna Bodywork uses sensitivity and long flowing strokes to provide a space for clients to experience healing and wellbeing for themselves. It uses concepts and moves of Hawaiian martial arts together with elements of massage, using the forearms a lot as well as the fingers and hands. With the aid of posture, leverage and motion, the practitioner is able to perform the bodywork according to the script of the client’s body and facilitate healing. This allows clients to regain balance and awareness within themselves.

This style of bodywork was created by Kahu Abraham Kawai’i, a native Hawaiian Kahuna. He used Ka’aleleau as a medium of teaching the ancient principles and bodywork moves. It is an ancient spiritual dance/ movement facilitating a vision of the Kahuna art of non-verbal communication with all things.

Kahuna Bodywork enables both practitioner and client to access pathways to physically, mentally or spiritually unexplored areas within themselves. Discover your inherited power and wisdom by being a participating observer while you have your bodywork.

Flying (Kalele au) is a dynamic movement, to enhance physic and psychological persistance, flexibilty und expansion. It links and balances left and right sides of the brain and improves therefore the motoric.  The trainies overcome resistance and inner limits and can by the changed physical patterns of movement transform old concepts and beliefs.

Stretching (Ho‘omanamana) combines fluid, concentrated stretching with consious breathing. The combination of von Flying and Stretching leads to reducing stress  bringing flexibility to body and mind.
